Survival rates for chronic kidney disease have improved over the past decade. The most notable advances in survival are due to improving patients' nutritional status when starting hemodialysis, early preparation of vascular access to prevent catheter-related infections, and fostering psychological acceptance to enhance attitudes toward ongoing treatment adherence. However, there are still local and regional challenges related to health coverage for dialysis and managing complications associated with chronic kidney disease. We present clinical cases from the Nephrology Congress of the Latin American Society of Nephrology and Hypertension, from the section "Chronic Kidney Disease and its Complications."
